HONG KONG by Risaburo Kimura is a mixed media print with an image size of 28″ X 20″ plus margins. The edition is 250 numbered plus 20 Artist’s Proofs. This  print was created in ten colors and printed from one stone, four plates and five screens. All the plates and screen were created entirely by the hand of the artist.

This is one print from the suite “Twenty Great cities of the World”. All stones and plates for the prints in this suite were hand drawn by the artist. All silk screens were hand cut by Kimura. The creation of this suite took Kimura two years and eight months of continuous production.

The beauty of this series of twenty prints cannot be duplicated on a computer screen. This is one piece from the suite of twenty titled (Great Cities of the World) and includes prints depicting the following cities: (as interpreted by Kimura)

London, Moscow, Venice, Geneva, New York, Madrid, Prague, Rio, Athens, Sydney, Berlin, Peking, Vienna, Bangkok, Amsterdam, Paris, Hong Kong, Buenos Aires, Oslo and Tokyo.

The bio on Kimura is too long for this listing but I will mention he has been exhibited world wide by museums and galleries including the Brooklyn Museum and the Guggenheim Museum in NYC.

Post-war Japanese artist Risaburo Kimura is known for his serigraphs, lithographs and mixed media prints depicting imaginary cityscapes in illusory colors. Kimura studied philosophy at Hosei University. He embarked on a path as a painter in the 1960s

In 1964, Kimura migrated to the U.S., establishing a studio in Manhattan. In the late 1960s, he produced his best-known series, “Great Cities of the World.”

His works are in the following corporations and institutions among many others: I.B.M. World Trade Corp. NYC, The Bank of America NYC, Cargill Minneapolis, Aerospacial Helicopter Texas, Philadelphia Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Modern Art in NYC, The National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto Japan, Oklahoma Art Center, The Cincinnati Art Museum and Museo La Tertulia Cali in Columbia S.A.
