CLOWNING AROUND by Joseph Trippetti is an original serigraph with an image size of 28″ X 28″ plus margins. The edition size is 300. Joseph Trippetti is an internationally known as ‘master’ of the ancient art of cloisonné. This is an outstanding translation from cloisonné to a serigraph. This print is pencil signed and numbered by the artist and is in mint condition having not been framed or mounted.
Included with the purchase of this print is a hard cover book on the Artist and Cloisonné (one book per customer). The book tells how cloisonné is made and contains many pictures of the tenuous process by which it is created. Also pictured are many of Trippetti’s works in cloisonné. This beautifully executed serigraph has a retail price of $600.00 which in itself is low for a fine art print of such quality.

Joseph Trippetti was born in Philadelphia in 1923. It didn’t take him long to realize that he was a “maker”who preferred doing things with his hands to nearly anything else.
By the time he entered the Army Corps of Engineers in 1943 he had had no more of an art background than than most high school graduates. Bu that sense of wanting persisted . When he left the Pacific for home in 1946 he enrolled in the Philadelphia College of art. Though he was eligible for the G.I. Bill, he insisted on paying his first year’s tuition himself. In case it didn’t work our, he reasoned, the government would not have paid for his mistake.
He studied painting, ceramics, metal working and design. He took his final year abroad at the Sheffield College of Arts and Crafts in England. After spending a year in Philadelphia making pottery, he moved to New Hampshire where he began enameling and experimenting with cloisonné, teaching himself through textbooks and trial and error.
By 1955 he was teaching painting and enameling at the Currier Galley of Art Center in Manchester NH. Eventually cloisonné let him at last combine his broad knowledge of design, color and enameling.
His work endures through delight and pleasure it holds for everyone. There is a sense of personal conviction and purpose which inform the work of this important American artist.
