$3,900.00 – (Sale Price $1,900.00)
SHADOWS by Mihail Chemiakin is a serigraph printed in 80 colors on heavy Coventry white rag paper. The image size is 36″ X 36″ plus full margins and the edition is 205. Do not confuse this with his less expensive lithographs. This print is in mint condition and has not been framed or mounted. At Buyers request, and increased cost, I can also offer this on stretched canvas which is in an edition of only 40 (see separate listing). Contact me for my lowest price quaotation for this print on stretched canvas.
No picture can do justice to this magnificent piece of art. The color, intensity, texture and quality does not show up in my picture. I have another piece from the edition framed and on the wall in my home and it is extraordinary. This is not the unframed, mint piece I am offering in this listing. The retail list price of this print is $3,900.00.
The signature and edition number are written in the white margins at the bottom but do not show up in this picture because they became blanked out when the picture was corrected for display in this listing.
This is a special piece that almost did not get into the commercial art market. Chemiakin created this as a gift for his most important friends including Mikhail Gorbachev, Boris Yeltsin, museum curators, educators and others. Only a limited number became commercially available. As a serious collector of Chemiakin’s art, I consider this to be my favorite piece.
Chemiakin’s serigraphs are truly master works, representative of his best work in the graphic medium. While he has created in excess of 200 editions of lithographs, he has created only nine editions of serigraphs. His lithographs usually have 12 to 18 colors, while his serigraphs have 75 to 100 colors, and four to six times the image size in square inches.
Anyone wanting to own works by Mihail Chemiakin will find his serigraphs are by far the most beautiful and valuable in the graphic medium and have very limited availability.
ABOUT THE ARTIST – (Click on any picture to enlarge it)
Mihail Chemiakin is one of the foremost international artists of our time. A quote from the Robb Report (Jan. 1995) states “so great are his talents that he is one of the few artists working today who sets the standard by which all other contemporary art is measured”.
He has earned 5 honorary doctorates. The Hermitage Museum held an exhibition in Oct. 1995 of such magnitude that a 7 volume catalog was printed for it.
In the picture shown with Boris Yeltsin, Chemiakin is receiving the ‘State Prize of Russia” for Arts and Letters. President Yeltsin came to Washington DC to make this presentation to Chemiakin, not for a state visit with President Clinton.
