Norman Rockwell, an American painter and illustrator, is remembered for his insight on everyday American culture and for his illustrative covers depicting daily American life for The Saturday Evening post magazine.
The Marriage Contract shows the scene of a young couple looking forward to married life ahead and an older town clerk. The Marriage Contract was set in the town clerk’s office next to Rockwell’s first Stockbridge studio.
